class structure

All classes typically follow the structure of training with an initial warm-up, followed up with some calisthenics training, and then into the good stuff – the martial arts training.

Given that Shotokan and Kyokushin influence the club’s style (given the instructor’s background), we utilise deep stances as a fundamental part of training. Rooted stances like Kiba dachi (horse stance), Zenkutsu dachi (front stance), and Kokutsu dachi (back stance) are used to develop lower-body strength and stability. These stances are crucial for generating power and maintaining balance in both close-range combat and when striking.

Some sessions will also focus on Ju Jutsu training, involving a combination of drills, with a strong emphasis on clinching, joint manipulation, submissions and throws.

Fighting fit classes

For those who do not wish to train a martial from the beginning and purely wish to focus on their fitness, we also offer our "Fighting Fit" classes right after all Karate classes.

These classes are a high-intensity, 50 minute workout that combines martial arts, circuit training, and self defence.

It is taught to anyone over the age of 16 years old, and is suitable for all fitness levels.
